An Old Friend

  • Sharebar
Mat and I did a power run through Costco the other night…You know, 10 minutes before closing? Right, that’s a great workout if you’re curious. Anyway, as we were plowing down the aisles shoving random kids out of our way I saw and old, dear friend of mine. And of course I just had to stop.

Memories flashed back of when I worked in the restaurant and would stay after my shift with Colter {my fabulously gay friend}, unwinding … sipping on wine. We’d laugh, vent, & laugh more. I cracked up each time he minpronounced the name of the wine…”Shi-ZAR!” He’d say…like it was the name of some horrible Shaq movie. I enjoyed our little after work moments, and looked forward to them each time we worked together.

After quickly snapping back to reality, I flashed a grin and asked Mat to put my old friend in our cart. Then we hauled arse to check out.
What… you thought it was Colter I ran into? No, I haven’t seen him in years… But the Shiraz was just how I remembered it.

You are hysterical. I originally read this post in my email, where there are no pictures, and I envisioned you pushing around a fabulously gay and small friend through Costco.

    Mrs. Cox,

I would have loved seeing you pushing your human "old friend" in a cart through Costco. Minutes before closing would have been even more amusing because getting from one end of that store to the other is a challenge. Even though I have children, I find the sight somewhat amusing of children being shoved out of the way as you rushed pushing Colter to the check-out. Why are we all laughing at that?

Thank you for visiting my blog!

    Nice writing there missy!

So if you didn't see Colter and yet the Shiraz reminded you of Colter, I'm wondering why Matt was haulin ass and why Costco didn't kick those same proverbial asses out.

Oh, that post tricked me, especially when you wrote that you put it in the cart. I was thinking, maybe Colter was small or something!

I love that wine myself. It has a nice spiciness.
