Our Weekend …
Here are some highlights {and low-lights} from our weekend…٭ Mat worked yesterday on an emergency call. While he was gone, I had a rough time. There was a slight issue with a clogged toilet during lunch time. Toilet water overflowed onto the floor, and I was attemping to fix the problem with the help of a piece of crap plunger while Charlie ate…which was a mistake. After I gave up with the toilet issue, I came out to the living room to find her plate upside down on the floor. Apple butter on the carpet. I promptly called Mat, who did not answer twice. Then had a mini tantrum by throwing my phone across the room. When he called me back, he calmed me down some assuring me that he would take care of the toilet when he got home.
٭ Another added stress level to yesterday was the fact that we had to be east of Seattle by 6pm, and we still had party clothes to buy and Charlie to drop off. With him getting called out, I wasn’t able to get the things done that I needed to in order to get ready. So we felt totally rushed.
٭ We finally made it out the door, headed to the Christmas party. Mat looked dapper in a sweater and slacks. He always has cleaned up nicely… ٭ When we made it to the Christmas party at Daniel’s Broiler — 21st floor, oh the view at night! — we mingled with his coworkers and sat with most of the boss’ family for dinner. Open bar, melt in your mouth filet mignon and appetizers, great creme brulee for dessert. I was in heaven, and thankful I wore a forgiving sweater to hide my full stomach
٭ Charlie ended up staying the night with Mat’s parents. By the time we got back, it was far too late to wake her and take her back home. Since she’s still got a cold, we opted to leave her be. She slept through the night, no problems reported! Such a good girl …٭ Early this morning, we picked her up and I fed her breakfast in the suburban on the way to look at Potential House #8 … Nice house, but the people were home. UGH! 1900 sq. feet, on 1.5 acres. 2.5 baths, 3 bedrooms, finished basement, private drive, split level home. I’m diggin’ it. I wish I could take the kitchen from Potential House #7 and place it in this house. And I’d miss that farmhouse charm. But there are plenty of pluses with this house. We’ll see!
٭ After getting home from our house hunting saga, Mat and I cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. That’s one thing I hate about having busy weekends…you come home to a mess: thrown coats, shopping bags, etc. Very obvious that we were in and out more than usual. After Charlie wakes, we’ll be heading to T.J. Maxx’s to scour the racks a little. And I’m hoping to find a little something for a Secret Santa gift. And pick up a few much needed groceries. Then we’ll be in for the night. It’s snowed lightly all morning/afternoon, I assume it will get really cold tonight. Maybe watch a movie after dinner. Just chillax before a new week starts tomorrow…

Whoa, that's an action packed weekend for sure! I have to do a little of that Secret Santa shopping myself.
I'm glad you managed to get out with Mat and that you had a great time. You deserved it after the chaos of the earlier part of the day!
Wow – your weekend sounds pretty crazy – mine was the same. I'm glad you could top it all off though with the party. The food sounds amazing! We went to hubby's xmas party Saturday night too and our food nowhere compared to yours! Hmph!
I'm glad Charlie did so good with the sleepover – good girl! Well, except for tossing her dinner on the carpet – no Charlie!
All right, it's embarrassing to admit we've had to think hard about this subject, but we used to live in a place with 1920s plumbing so don't hate. May I recommend the Johnny Jolter? Once we started using ours, we couldn't figure out why plungers still existed. No, I don't work for Johnny Jolter. Wouldn't that be fun to explain at parties?
Glad you survived your weekend!
Wow, what a busy weekend! Sorry to hear about the toilet, I hope it is fixed by now.
The party sounds great! It is so nice you have Grandparents for the overnighters!
I think my coming weekend is going to be as action packed at that!
Have a great week!
After that "crappy" day (sorry, couldn't resist), you deserved a nice night out with Mat.
I love that photo of Charlie with her tongue out… SO cute.
Thanks for sharing your weekend.
