Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Flour Review and Giveaway :: CLOSED
I recently had the opportunity to try out another product from Tropical Traditions, this time it was the
Organic Coconut Flour. A certified organic, unsweetened coconut flour.. I was impressed when I read that the coconut flour has more fiber than gluten-based grains. For shiggles, I compared the coconut label to an unbleached natural all-purpose flour that we use often. That brand has 2g of dietary fiber for ¼ cup {
30 gram} serving. Below are both nutrition labels. Our “normal” flour and the Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour ::

That’s … *quick math* 11.55g of dietary fiber for an equivalent serving of 30 grams of the coconut flour. 2g vs 11.55g per serving. Quite the jump! Now let me say, I am one that has an “everything in moderation” approach. So while I don’t count calories or shy away from fat content, I also understand that eating lifestyles differ. Looking at the nutrition label, some concerns may be the fats, sodium, and calories in the organic coconut oil. Again, it may just be something for others to take note of.
With that said, my hips were ready to try out some recipes. I was hoping to make “French-style” macaroons {
not the shredded coconut kind}. You know, the almond flour sandwich cookies that are beautifully delicious? *
sigh* I tried to make them with coconut flour as a substitute. Experimental and an utter snafood. After I sulked, I grabbed one of Tropical Traditions kitchen-tested recipes and made an “
Easy Delicious Brownie Dessert“. Dangerously delicious. If you have no self control… do not make these. If you have self control… teach me your ways.
Savory or sweet, I think Tropical Traditions Coconut Flour would be a special touch to any dish. I think next time I will try using it as a flavorful dredge for coconut chicken on a bed of rice. Ooh or a in a curry dish! Yum
